Large Mouth Bass - Whimsy March Release Day 4

It's day 4 of the Whimsy March release. I have a card to show today which showcases one of the new DoveArt images. It's the beautiful 'Large Mouth Bass' image. Perfect for every fisherman or fish lover.

I stamped the Large Mouth Bass onto 140lb  Canson XL watercolor paper with Versafine Clair 'Nocturne' ink and colored the image with Twinkling H2O shimmering watercolors. The background was done with distress ink salty ocean and sprinkled with some water to achieve this water spot effect. The sentiment is from the Happy Sayings clear sentiment set and was stamped with Versamark ink onto black cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder. To add some bling I've embellished the card with enamel dots from the Christmas Cheer set and sequins

Here is a link list with all the Whimsy products I've used:

Whimsy's March Release Starts Today!

For my project today I've used the 'Farmhouse Greenery Stenciland one of the 'Straight Edger Dies'. I sponged the stencil with distress inks (mermaid lagoon and twisted citron) on one side of the card. Because the stencil has a more delicate design I used a sponge dauber. On the other side I've used Liquitex Gloss Heavy Gel medium mixed with some white glitter. I cut the top layer with one of the 'Straight Edger Dies' (stars) to divide both sides. The sentiment from the 'Fly by' set is stamped with mermaid lagoon and twisted citron distress inksEmbellies are some sequins and Enamel dots

Here is a closer look on the stenciled pattern with the Heavy Gel Gloss medium.

Hey There!

Hello Friends! I have another card to share with today where I used one of these beautiful flower stamps from  Whimsy stamps DoveArt line. It is called 'Lilac and Butterfly'.

I stamped onto Strathmore 140lb hotpress watercolor paper using Versamark ink. I heat embossed the image with Ranger's superfine detail white embossing powderBecause it is hard to see when coloring a white outlined image on white watercolor paper I always stamp my image a second time in black onto a piece of scrap paper for reference.
I then watercolored the image using Daniel Smith (DS) watercolors in Quinacridone Magenta, Rose of Ultramarine, Quinacridone Deep Gold, Titanium White and Sap Green. I've added some soft glitter to the butterfly with a Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen and some more bling using Nuvo glitter drops in golden sunset in some areas of the lilac. The background was done with DS Manganese Blue-Hue.

Here is a close-up:

To finish off my card I used a light pink heavy cardstock base and a layer of black cardstock to make the image more pop. I stamped the sentiment from the
Bold Statements clear set by Deb Davis with Delicata pink shimmer ink onto a piece of black cardstock. I layered it with a piece of pink cardstock. To embellish I used some Sequins from the, white string, a pink button and some enamel dots from the It's a Party set.

Here are the Whimsy products I used:

Lilac and Butterfly   Bold Statements   VersaMark Full-Size Ink Pad - Original (Clear)    White Embossing Powder    Morning Glow Sequin Pack     *NEW It's a Party Enamel Dots   Delicata Small Ink Pad - Pink Shimmer

Celebrate Today! - Hydrangea Cluster

Hello Crafty Friends! Iris here today with a card made using one of the new Whimsy Rubber stamps from the DoveArt line. This is one of my absolute favorites from the new line. It's called Hydrangea Cluster.

I stamped the Hydrangeas a few times onto Canson heavy weight (140lbs) watercolor cardstock with Distress Ink Antique Linen and colored using Daniel Smith watercolors. (see a list of colors used below). After the watercolors had dried thoroughly I fuzzy cut the Hydrangea flowers. The sentiment is from the Happy Headlines clear set by Deb Davis and was stamped using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink and then cut out. For the background I sponged Fossilized Amber Distress ink all over the cardstock, spritzed it with water for some more interest and let it dry. Then I used the Brick Pattern Stencil and Fossilized Amber Oxide ink to sponge the pattern. Using the Oxide ink in the same color as te background gives it a more saturated look and makes it stand out more. After the oxide ink was dry I applied Liquitex Gloss Super Heavy Gel to add some structure. This gel goes on white and dries crystal clear for an awesome glass like 3D effect.

Here is a closeup on the Hydrangeas. I also added a few crystal dew drops. Kind of hard to see in the photo but looks really nice in real life.

Daniel Smith water colors used:

Sap Green
Undersea Green
Lunar Blue
Manganese Blue Hue
Indanthrone Blue

It was the first time for me working with the Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors and I have to say I am in love. They are super vibrant and a dream to work with. You can expect to see them used more often on my creations in the future.

Day 6 of the Whimsy February Release Inspiration

Hope you all had a good start into the week! It's Day 6 of the  Whimsy Stamps February Release week. On this last day of our release celebrations I have two cards to share.

Here is the first one. A bright CAS card using the 'Love Has Four Paws' clear stamp set by Deb Davis from Amped2Stamp This is another set in our line-up of pet sympathy stamps.

To make this card I started out to mask the edges of a panel of 140 lbs Strathmore mixed media paper with Post-it removable labeling tape. I wanted to sponge the background and have the appearance of a frame without using another layer of cardstock. To sponge my background I used TH Distress Inks ( picked raspberry, spiced marmelade and squeezed lemonade). Then I used the Brick Pattern Stencil to lift some of the color. To do that I used a slightly damp baby wipe. I didn't want it to be perfect, I just wanted a bit of the brick pattern effect on my background. When everything was dry I stamped the image and sentiment using Versafine ink

For my second card I had a play with the 'Unconditional Love' set also illustrated by Deb Davis from Amped2Stamp.

For this card I used a A2 size cardstock base (4 1/4 x 11 inches folded cross wise). I cut out a heart shape in the center of the front layer. On the inside I stamped the image with Versamark ink and embossed with black embossing powder. I made sure that when the card is closed the image will show perfectly through the cut out heart shape. The sentiment on the inside was stamped with Versafine ink. To finish my card I spritzed some black spreckles on the outside using a black Distress marker and the TH Distress tool. I stamped the small sentiment with Versafine Crimson Red ink and added a few sequins and enamle dots.

and here is a look at the inside of the card:

I have a cute little cactus card to share with you today:

This cute little guy is called 'Stuck on You Cactus' illustrated by Krista Heij-Barber. I stamped him on Strathmore 140lb hot press watercolor paper using Versafine ink. I colored with ZIG clean color brush pens where I take the color right from the Zig pen to the paper and then spread it out with a water brush. I do several layers this way and let it dry in between. The sentiment is from the NEW You're My Favorite clear sentiment set by Deb DavisI used  Versafine ink again to stamp the sentiment and then fuzzy cut the word favorite. The spreckles on the background were done using Frantage Shabby Embossing Enamel in blue and a black Tim Holtz distress marker and the distress spritzer tool.

Here are the ZIG brush pen colors I used:

Whimsy February Release - Day 3

Happy Weekend Everyone! Today is day 3 of our 6 day Whimsy  FebruarRelease celebrations! To see all showcased products from today please visit the Whimsy Inspirations Blog
I have a shaker card to share today using several new and older Whimsy products.

The sweet gnome is from a NEW clear set called 'Gnome Sweet Gnome'. I colored using my Copics. The sentiment is from the NEW You're My Favorite clear sentiment set by Deb Davis. The star shaped shaker element was created using the Pierced Stars die set. To give it a little dimension and have the shaker element sitting on top of the card rather than behind the cardstock layer, I cut out a piece of fun foam with the star dies for a 3D effect. The shaker filling is a mix of different sequins and glitter shapes. To create the star spangled background I used the NEW Star Galaxy Stencil. I sponged it using my distress ink pad Spiced Marmalede. For the darker stars I went over it several times to achieve a real nice deep orange color. The little corner element was stamped with Versafine ink and is from the FADoodles Too set.

Copic colors used:

Red R39, R37, R35, R32
Orange YR9, YR18, YR15
